Description: I am utilizing www.voicethread.com as the major component of my Government HSA review. I took PowerPoint exams that summarize an entire unit and added voice, written, and doodle notes to explain concepts to students. I have compiled all of these voicethreads and other technological review tools into a wiki (http://nhs-hsa-review.wikispaces.com). My goal was to get other teachers to add material in the other HSA subject areas; however, no one has been able to devote any extra time to this endeavor. I have been testing out the wiki and the voicethreads in my 10th grade advisory and in my Government CEP (HSA review) class. Students have given me positive feedback about the voicethreads.
Reflection:
Voicethread.com must be one of my favorite tools. It is so easy to use and helps all sorts of learners—auditory, visual, fast, slow, etc. I have a mobile lab in my classroom that I use almost daily. Students often provide positive feedback when they get to use the laptops…it is something special that they don’t often get to use in other classes and for many outside of school. My goal for next year is to create a voicethread for every PowerPoint I utilize in my LSN class. In my AP class, I often assign students projects where they must create a PowerPoint—I am thinking about having the students take their PowerPoints and turn in them into voicethreads. The uses for this website are endless!
